Discussion with the INVIVO collective for the exhibition closing
Exhibition from Wednesday 6 to Saturday 16 October (closed on the 11th), from 2 to 7 pm.
The INVIVO collective will take pride of place at Némo this year. In addition to their virtual reality piece The Blind at CENTQUATRE-PARIS and Maison de la Musique in Nanterre, we are celebrating their new status as associate artists at the Les Gémeaux performing arts centre in Sceaux with an installation that is utterly beyond reality.
Tesseract (48.783986/2.306045) is a visual and audio experience that developed from a desire to represent the fourth dimension. The mammoth installation draws from Merleau-Ponty’s writing on perception, along with ample inspiration from science fiction, to immerse visitors in a sensory world where one enters into time itself.
A tesseract is a geometric shape that is to a cube what a cube is to a square—a representation of a cube in four dimensions. Both the container and its contents, the tesseract is helpful to understanding the fourth dimension. This “simple” shape is a wonderful gateway to approaching the topic and the questions it raises: How does time pass? At what pace? What is our grasp of it?
